I had worked with James and Stephanie at a previous firm, and I really enjoyed working with them, so when they started their firm, I was interested. After doing some research, it was clear that this was a firm that truly values its people. Additionally, I was looking for a place where I could grow as an attorney while also maintaining a strong sense of purpose in my work.

Ascent isn’t just about winning cases—it’s about making a real impact in the lives of our clients. The leadership here is incredibly supportive, and they provide the resources and mentorship necessary for attorneys to thrive. I wanted to be part of a team that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and client advocacy, and Ascent Legal Group embodies all of that.

One of the things I love about my job is that no two days are ever exactly the same. Some days, I get to grab my briefcase and go to court to advocate for clients. Other days, I’m meeting with clients to strategize their cases. Research and writing are a big part of my work, too—crafting persuasive arguments and staying ahead of legal developments is essential.

Collaboration is another key aspect of life at Ascent. We regularly have case strategy meetings where we bounce ideas off each other, ensuring we’re always putting forth the strongest legal arguments. Additionally, even though we work remotely, we have a group chat that is like our water cooler where we gather to catch up throughout the day.

Also, there is a real emphasis on professional development. Recently I was able to present at a CLE on family law.  Additionally, leadership encourages us to attend conferences, participate in training sessions, and learn from seasoned attorneys who genuinely want to see me succeed.

Of course, balance is important, too. The firm recognizes that attorneys do their best work when they’re given the flexibility and support they need, so I appreciate that Ascent lets us work remotely. I get to work the schedule I want and they trust me to get the work done.

In five years, I see myself continuing to grow within Ascent Legal Group, taking on more leadership responsibilities and mentoring newer attorneys the way I’ve been mentored. The firm encourages long-term career development, and I know that as I gain more experience, I’ll have opportunities to shape the direction of the practice and contribute to its continued success.

I also see myself expanding my role in the legal community—whether through additional speaking engagements or helping with pro bono initiatives. One of my long-term goals is to play a role in strengthening the firm’s impact both inside and outside the courtroom.

At the end of the day, I want to continue doing meaningful work that challenges me and helps our clients navigate complex legal issues. I know that Ascent Legal Group is the right place for me to do that, and I’m excited for what the future holds.
